在使用六轴力传感器时如何避免过载

最近,我们的一些客户反馈说,传感器在使用时超负荷了。在售后沟通过程中,我们发现:

Most of the overload mainly occurs in the following cases:

  • An impact occurs on the force sensor during debugging
  • The robotic arm is just in contact with the workpiece
  • The instantaneous load of the force sensor is too large
  • The force torque sensor specification does not match the torque under actual working conditions.

After comprehensive analysis, we found that the main reason for the F/T Sensor overload is that torque value exceeds the range that can withstand.

So, we need to evaluate the force of the sensor according to the actual situation. The maximum bending moment of the sensor under the whole working condition is calculated to judge whether the sensor can work normally and meet the working requirements.

But how to calculate the actual torque value of the sensor?

Next, we will take the Kunwei’s KWR75B as an example.

Look at the load reference plane of the sensor, that is like as a teaching rod installed on the mounting surface, and we will take this an example to analyse the torque. The distance between the end of teaching rod and the load reference plane is 100mm.

Suppose we apply a 100N force to the side of the end of the rod.

At this time, the load reference plane of the force sensor will not only be applied to the force value 10N, but also the torque value 10Nm(100N*100mm=10Nm) that has exceeded the design range of KWR75B 8Nm, and the force torque sensor will be overloaded. In this case, we can avoid overload by adjusting the length of the teaching rod, reducing the force value of the sensor, or replacing the larger range sensor.

In addition, the weight of the end effector or tooling will also cause the bending moment, so when calculating the torque value, we need to consider the influence of external force and the weight of the tooling at the same time.

Although Kunwei’s hex force torque sensors have a certain overload capacity, it is still necessary to prevent the overload of the sensor. The over-range using sensor will affect the usage life and measuring accuracy. If exceeds the overload limit of the sensor, it may even cause irreversible damage to the force sensor. Even a short period of overload can cause damage to the sensor.
